Why did I receive a Termination Letter?
A termination letter from your psychiatrist means that they believe it’s no longer beneficial to continue working together. This means they are unable to continue your care. Here are a few reasons this might occur:
- Completion of treatment: If you and your doctor agree that all your treatment goals have been met, we’re thrilled. The letter is sent to document your progress.
- In-person care might be more suitable: Some situations require in-person care or specialized expertise that we may not provide. If we’re unable to continue your care, it’s not a judgment. Your doctor wants what’s best for you, even if it means seeking care elsewhere.
- Relocation to a state where we don’t have doctors: For virtual visits, your psychiatrist must be licensed in your state. We don’t operate in every state, so if you’re moving, let your psychiatrist know, and we’ll help you find another psychiatrist.
- Inability to adhere to the treatment plan: Consistent appointments with your psychiatrist are crucial for safe and effective care. If you’re unable to maintain your schedule, we may not be able to continue your treatment.
- Inappropriate behavior: If you’re aggressive, rude, or threatening, we’ll need to stop working together to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff.
- Prescription misuse: If medications are not taken as prescribed, or are being overused, we cannot safely continue your treatment.
- Non-payment: If your account becomes significantly overdue, we may need to end our relationship. We do offer payment plans to help maintain your care. Learn more about them here [link to payment plans].
- You choose to end care at One Behavioral: If you decide to leave our care, we’ll send a termination letter to document your decision. The letter will also include instructions on how to access your medical records.
