What is "adherence"? Why did I receive an Adherence Letter? Understanding Adherence
“Adherence” refers to following your treatment plan as prescribed.
An essential part of adherence includes attending follow-up appointments. These visits are vital as they allow your doctor to monitor your progress and make informed decisions about your care. Even if you’re feeling well and have no new symptoms, it’s important to attend your follow-ups.
Why Did I Receive an Adherence Letter?
You may receive an Adherence Letter for reasons such as missing appointments or not scheduling follow-up visits as agreed upon with your doctor. This letter is a reminder that we need to hear from you to continue your care.
Remember, your doctor is here to help. If you’re having difficulty following your treatment plan, reach out. They can discuss adjustments that may better suit your needs. This could involve changing your appointment schedule, altering medications, or even considering different types of care.
If we don’t hear back from you within 10 days of receiving an Adherence Letter, we will have to discharge you as a patient. This means your current doctor will no longer be able to treat you. Upon discharge, you’ll receive a discharge letter with further recommendations for your care.
